The Town of 1770 is the nearest place from the mainland to depart  for the Southern Barrier Reef (Lady Elliot, Lady Musgrave and Heron Islands, Fitzroy Reef).
Dive and snorkellon an artifical reef made from ships and planes at Woongarra Marine Park.
Boats, Catamarans and Canoes available for hire.
Cruises or flights (minimum of 4 for flights if to be picked up in Agnes Water) to the reef, Fishing Trips can be organised from 1770 or you can take a boat out to surf or snorkel on Fitzroy Reef.
Take an adventure tour on the
Thundercator hire a canoe or kayak and get some exercise exploring the untouched and deserted coves that abound around Agnes Water and 1770.

All year "Barra" fishing at Lake Awoonga' also saratoga, gar, yellowBelly and long tom. Barramundi in the 10-25kg range are regularly caught from the lake. the largest barramundi caught to date was 29.8kg. The fish you may encounter in Lake Awoonga are: Agassiz's Glass Perch, Banded Grunter, Barramundi, Bony Bream, Eastern Rainbowfish, Eeltail catfish, Fly-specked Hardyhead, Forktail Catfish, Gudgeon, Long-finned Eel, Longtom, Mouth Almighty, Sea Mullet, Snub-nose Garfish, Spangled Perch. Some Hyrtl's Tandan, Mangrove Jack, Saratoga, Silver Perch, Sleepy Cod, Sooty Grunter & Yellowbelly. Lake Awoonga.

 
With the most northern surf beach in Queensland, Agnes Water is home to the Reef to Beach Longboard Classic, a great place to surf without the "hype". Surf Board hire is available in Agnes Water.
Not into surf, then the inlet at 1770 is the place for you, calm water and sandbar's great for the kids to poke around for shells.
